On October 4, Bob Farmer, President of CFP, met with a number of MPPs in various meetings, including Teresa Armstrong (MPP-London Fanshawe…and NDP Seniors Critic)
and Julia Munro (MPP-York Simcoe and PC Pensions Critic).
Bob reviewed CFPs key concerns around Ontario’s proposals for pension reforms advanced by Minister Sousa in May of 2017.
Bob discussed various ways in which the reform package could be amended to ensure that pension security would be improved for Defined Benefit pensioners in Ontario, while at the same time providing the opportunity for Defined Board Plan Sponsors fund their plans over a longer time frames.
The same day, Bob also talked with Paul Miller (MPP-Hamilton East-Stoney Creek and BDP Pensions Critic), Yvan Baker (MPP- Etobicoke Centre and Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Finance), Bill Walker (MPP- Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound and PC Seniors Critic), and Harinder Malhi (MPP- Brampton-Springdale and Member of the Standing Committee on Finance).
